I'm a freelance science and environmental journalist based in Santa Cruz, CA, and a science journalism intern at Science News. I'm also a recent graduate of the U.C. Santa Cruz Science Communication Program.
My work has been published in Science, Scientific American, Science News, The Scientist, Inside Science, Eos, Mongabay, the San Jose Mercury News, San Jose Inside, and the Monterey Herald, and has been republished by outlets like ABC News, Yahoo News, Astronomy, and the East Bay Times.
I hold an M.S. geology from McGill University, and previously conducted research at the U.S. Geological Survey. Though my scientific experience is grounded in rocks, my journalism spans a wide range of topics, from firefighting tactics to toxic rice to self-mutilating sea sponges.
